Thanks for visiting my campaign website. As you learn more about me and my vision for the Eastside, I hope that you will agree that I have the experience, commitment, and proven record of service to be the most effective representative for District 8.
Appointed by Mayor Heidi Davison to both the ACC Planning Commission and the ACC Hearings Board, I am proud to be the progressive choice for the 8th District. I am seeking the 8th District post because I believe we have made great strides in recent years with a progressive land-use, environmental, and anti-poverty agenda and I would like to see the Commission continue to move in this direction.
As you will see from this website, I have not only talked the progressive talk but walked the progressive walk. I was a member of the citizen committees which developed the ACC stream buffer and tree canopy protection ordinances, a member of the UGA Ad Hoc Committee on low wage work on campus, and a member of the Economic Development subcommittee of the Partners for a Prosperous Athens.
I believe in protecting our neighborhoods from poor development and have been advocating smart growth strategies for over a decade. I believe in protecting our environmental resources and have the track record to prove it. I believe in addressing issues of persistent poverty in our community and have been active in trying to develop solutions. I am someone with a passion for Athens who has put in hundreds of hours of volunteer work to make our community a better place, a commitment recognized by the Athens-Banner Herald newspaper in 2002 when it named me one of 10 Athens residents who “exhibit the spirit of community.”
District 8 residents need a Commissioner they can count on to stand up for what’s right for the Eastside. District 8 also needs a representative with demonstrated experience working with neighborhood associations, community organizations, businesses, and local government.
Over the past decade, I have immersed myself in making Athens a better place in which to live and work. I believe that I have shown the leadership, experience, and commitment necessary to earn your vote.
As 8th District Commissioner, I will listen carefully to residents’ hopes and dreams for our community. And I will be a strong, hardworking, and vocal advocate for District 8.
I hope you will agree that I am the progressive choice for the Eastside.
